New research from DeepMind and Yale University has created AI that now generates biological hypotheses that can lead to new medical discoveries. The collaboration between recently produced C2S-Scale 27B, a powerful AI model trained to interpret cellular data at an unprecedented scale. Built upon Google’s Gemma technology, this system doesn’t just analyze; it predicts.

Earlier computational models helped scientists categorize large biological datasets. The Yale AI went further by identifying a mechanism that allows some cancers, especially ‘cold’ tumors, to evade immune detection. This finding could lead to new ways to help the body recognize and fight resistant cancers. Also, research marks a shift in cancer studies from describing what happens to predicting what will happen. The new AI is by identifying cause-and-effect links in cells, is becoming a partner alongside researchers.
