David E Anderson, DVM, MS, DACVS, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies for the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee. Dr. Anderson earned his BS in Animal Science (NCSU, 1988) and DVM (NCSU, 1990) at North Carolina State University. He completed an Internship at the University of Georgia (1991), Residency in Food Animal Medicine, Surgery, and Reproduction at Kansas State University (1994), and earned a MS in Clinical Sciences (osteosynthesis) at KSU (1994). Dr. Anderson is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a board-certified specialist in surgery (Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons) and an ACVS Founding Fellow of Minimally Invasive Surgery (Large Animal Soft Tissue). Other professional accomplishments include service as a Regional Director for the American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners; Regent of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons; Founder of the International Academy of Farm Animal Surgeons; and Founder of the International Camelid Initiative. Dr. Anderson’s research interests include animal models, development of novel surgical techniques, regenerative medicine, biomaterials, and translational medicine. Over his 30+ year career, Dr. Anderson has been awarded over $15M in research grants, published more than 195 peer-reviewed publications, editor of 5 textbooks, written more than 80 book chapters. He has been recognized as the continuing educator of the year at international conferences and has been honored by awards for excellence in teaching, excellence in team science, excellence in faculty and graduate student mentoring, excellence in research and as a Distinguished Alumnus.
