With the backdrop of a global stem cell conference about to roll into the Motor City, billionaire A. Alfred Taubman is continuing his mission of making Michigan a hub of medical research. Taubman, the outspoken 86-year-old businessman who made billions with his shopping malls around the world, spent millions two years ago funding Proposal 2, which Michigan voters approved to loosen rules allowing for more stem cell research.
