Janet Hubka spent over 30 years managing multispecialty healthcare practices in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. She served as the Executive Director of the Osteopathic Center for Children in San Diego, working closely with renowned osteopath, Dr. Viola Frymann. The Center specializes in treating children with brain trauma, seizure disorders, cerebral palsy and other developmental conditions. She helped coordinate professional education programs held at the OCC as well as fundraising projects for the non-profit healthcare center.
Janet founded Ilus Art in 2012 to highlight the wonderful research being done at institutes, universities and private companies in the field of regenerative medicine. Ilus takes the high resolution images that scientists capture to validate their research and creates luminescent art pieces. This artwork is also used as part of a K-12 STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) program that has been presented to thousands of students in San Diego County. Additionally, the program, “Taking Art to the Cellular Level”, was presented to students in West Palm Beach as part of a six-week pilot program sponsored by The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium and the Center for Creative Education. Ilus has worked with multiple organizations to help raise awareness and much needed funds for research. These organizations include: Alzheimer’s Association, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the S.D. Parkinson’s Association, Athena and multiple schools and universities. Ilus supports the science by donating a percentage of proceeds to the respective lab and scientist.
With four children and two grandchildren living in California and Texas, she spends most of her free time on airplanes.
